Cleaning

Use a broom and dustpan to scoop up small toys.

Here are a few tips to make cleaning a little less tedious. I have all my cleaning products in a caddy so I'm always ready to clean. I bring the caddy and any other necessary cleaning items out at once and begin cleaning from top to bottom (using both hands) working left to right around the room. Floors get done last. I also have two bins where I deposit things that go on each of the other two levels of the house so I only make one trip to those levels to return all the necessary items. It really saves time, makes the job pretty efficient, and makes me hate cleaning a little bit less.

This tip actually came from a Parents or Parenting magazine. The mom sent in this tip to save time when changing crib sheets... instead of changing it each week, take the mattress out once each month and put four sheets on it. They easily peel off one at a time to wash, and you don't have to take the bumpers and mattress out to do it each time. Now, I must admit that my first reaction to this was, "someone actually fights with those d@$m sheets once a week?!" Perhaps it is only me who is willing to let my child sleep in a little dried drool to avoid the trouble of fighting with the crib mattress and bedding to wash them. Regardless of my poor parenting skills, the tip really works... even if you only peel one off once a month! One caveat, though: this works great until your child vomits all over the crib. Then you may be stuck with every sheet you own soaked in vomit, making what is usually an annoying situation much, much worse!
