This is for all of you who have so far escaped the stomach virus that went around in February: instead of changing crib sheets over and over when your little one is ill, try a regular adult-sized bath towel. It covers the mattress perfectly, is easily cleaned, and can be tucked under the bumpers for a tight fit.

For a quick teething fix, home-made ice pops work wonders. You can usually find inexpensive popsicle sticks (sold as craft sticks) at CVS, or in a pinch a plastic spoon will do. My daughter loves them even if they are just plain frozen water... that way she gets a soothing treat and a cold drink.

If you find that clipping those tiny little fingernails and toenails is always a chore (either done while fighting the "squirmies" or bending over into a crib or bassinet), try keeping an extra nail clipper in your car. The next time baby decides to catch a catnap in the carseat, it will be easy to reach over and clip away.

This tip actually came from a Parents magazine, but we tried it and it really works! If you have a diaper pail that just doesn't seem to keep in the stench anymore, pick up a container of baking soda. They now sell it (for cleaning purposes, apparently) in a shaker container. Just keep it by the diaper pail and shake in a bit after each smelly diaper. It doesn't stop you from having to take out the diaper bag—eventually—but it does make it more livable in the meantime.

Find it hard to exercise because of time crunch, weather, kids, etc? Try Denise Austin's Daily Workout weekday mornings from 7:30-8:00 on Lifetime (it's 65 on our Comcast). She fits stretching, aerobic exercise, toning, and cool down into 1/2 hour. Sometimes I'll do the first 10 minutes (stretching and aerobics) to get the day started well while my daughter tries to follow (!) or plays nearby. I tape the show daily. If I didn't exercise that day, I'll play the tape after my daughter goes to bed.

Stuff some newspaper bags in your diaper bag to use for easy diaper disposable.
